The Jackson County RoseQueen Scholarship Pageant is hosting a “Queen for a Day” event for girls ages 6 to 12 on Wednesday, August 4th at the Cascade Manor House and Cascade Falls. The girls will get to spend the day with the 2010 Jackson County RoseQueen Candidates and Miss Jackson County’s Outstanding Teen 2009, Paige Poling, who was 4th Runner-Up at this year’s Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen Pageant in Muskegon. Activities will include crafts, games, a “manicure and makeover”, and learning a short dance routine that they will perform at the Cascade Falls that night at 7pm.

Participants will also have dinner with the 2009 RoseQueen, Cassandra Kramer, who was 1st Runner-Up at this year’s Miss Michigan Pageant.

After the event ends around 6:30 at the Cascades Manor House, the girls will walk over to the Cascades Falls in a “Walk & Wave Parade” with the Rosequeen, Outstanding Teen and RoseQueen Candidates and other special guests to music. Parents, family, friends and the public are encouraged to line up outside the Falls to see all of our special “Queens.”

At 7pm inside the Falls during “Family Night” the girls will get to perform the dance learned earlier that day and following the performance each participant will be crowned with their very own tiara to keep by our 2009 RoseQueen and Miss Jackson County Outstanding Teen.

There will also be a crowning ceremony for the “Be a Princess” program for girls that are not between the ages of 6 to 12 or that cannot participate in the “Queen for a Day” program. “Princesses” will receive their very own tiara and a Royal Certificate. “Be a Princess” is great for babies and toddlers and even for adults.

The Cascades Falls “Family Night” will also feature “The Peter VadnerWaals Big Band”, with music from the Big Band Era, and characters resembling Aladdin, Jasmine, Shrek and Fiona. The show will start at 7:30 after the “Queen for a Day” crowning ceremony. Gates open at 7pm and admission is $5 for the entire family.

Cost for “Queen for a Day” is $28 and for “Be a Princess” is $10. A “Queen for a Day” T-Shirt can be pre-orded for $10 and can be ordered for either program. Deadline to register for both events is July 26th. For the flier and registration form you can visit www.jacksonrosefestival.org or email Rebecca Hilleary, Jackson County Rosequeen Scholarship Pageant Co-Executive Director, at rosequeen_2002@hotmail.com.

The funds raised from this event will go towards the Jackson County RoseQueen Scholarship Pageant, an affiliate of the Miss America Organization. Special thanks to our event sponsors Little Caesars Carryouts of Jackson, Cascades Manor House, the Cascades Falls, and the Jackson County Rose Festival.

  • I think that your station is awesome. I listen to it day and night. I never knew that Christian music like this even existed. Each song is more beautiful than the next.
